Leaders Emerging And Pursuing STEM (LEAPS)
The LEAPS program is an opportunity for students in STEM majors (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics) to receive a scholarship and a range of academic support services.
Benefits
If you are selected, you will receive the following benefits
- A scholarship of up to $3650 for each year you are in LEAPS.
- Opportunities to participate in research and a STEM internship.
- A faculty mentor in your discipline who will help advise regarding academics, internships, and research opportunities.
- Opportunities for peer mentoring and team building. You’ll be part of a cohort of LEAPS scholars.
- Monthly seminar for career and graduate school preparation.
- A one week Summer STEM Academy at Saint Peter’s University, where you will engage with different fields of STEM, do fun hands-on activities, and interact with your fellow LEAPS scholarships.
Eligibility
- US citizen or national, or permanent resident alien.
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics.
- Planning on pursuing a career in STEM or attending graduate school in STEM.
- Currently a Freshman.
- Overall High school of GPA 3.0 or greater.
- Low income student (Pell grant recipient).
Application
- Complete online application form
- Deadline: Priority consideration August 4, 2023.
- One letter of recommendation will need to be included in the application.
- Selected applicants will need to complete an interview and orientation session.
