Students in the EOF Program Travel to Trenton
Saint Peter’s students from the Educational Opportunity Fund Program (EOF) traveled to Trenton, N.J. on Thursday March 26 to visit legislators at the state capitol building. The visit was in regards to a proposed $1.528 million (-3.9%) budget reduction to the EOF state budget by the governor. EOF students joined together with the EOF Statewide Alumni Association of New Jersey, the Alliance of EOF Students of New Jersey and the EOF Professional Association of New Jersey along with the state director for EOF, to explain the importance of this program. The EOF students in attendance from all across the state were encouraged by Senator Ronald L. Rice and other assemblymen and assemblywomen to become active members of the political system within the state of New Jersey to ensure that their voices are heard and that community needs are being acknowledged and met.
