Visit the Center for Global Learning

You can visit the Center Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. While you can drop in, we do encourage you to schedule a first-time advising appointment. At this appointment, you will learn about study abroad opportunities in greater detail.

Evaluate Yourself

Do you embrace new adventures or are you more comfortable staying relatively close to your comfort zone? Remember, savvy travelers keep their budget in mind. You’re in the driver’s seat when it comes to knowing which type of study abroad program will suit you best.

Choose Your Language

Decide whether you want to learn another language, improve upon one you already know, or study in English.

Research Your Options

Consider your motivation and goals for studying abroad, and research programs based on your academic requirements, interests, budget and timeline.  Explore program options.

Schedule an Appointment with the Director of the Center for Global Learning

Once you have narrowed down your options, contact the director to schedule an appointment.

Meet with Your Academic Advisor

Schedule an appointment to review your degree and graduation requirements and to discuss your plans to study abroad. With careful planning, studying abroad should fit into your program’s curriculum and not delay progress towards your degree.

Get Your Passport ASAP!

Your passport is your official identification while abroad. It takes at least 6–8 weeks to receive it in the mail and you can’t apply for a visa (permission to enter a country) without one. You can apply for a passport at any post office. Visit https://travel.state.gov/ for an application and information on the documents you’ll need to get your passport.

Explore Your Financial Options

Apply early for scholarships, grants, and federal or personal student loans to cover the costs of studying abroad. If you are not going on a school-sponsored program, contact your program and ask about financial aid. Learn more about Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Submit Your Study Abroad Application

Applications for spring semester study abroad programs are due on October 1; those for summer or fall programs are due on March 15. Please note some programs—like the ones offered by ISEP Exchange—may have earlier deadlines; contact the director for more information.
