Saint Peter’s Students and Faculty Attend Regional Math Conference

math studentsTwo faculty members and eight undergraduate students recently attended the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Regional Conference in Atlantic City, N.J., where more than 2,000 math teachers, professors and administrators participated in about 270 sessions. Education Professor James Clayton, Ed.D.,  presented two workshops: Using the Context of Social Justice to Teach Elementary Mathematics and Ideas for Integrating Social Justice in the Upper Elementary Classroom. Professor and Chair of the Department of Math John E. Hammett, III, Ed.D., and doctoral student Kristin Bertolero also presented two workshops: Differentiation Techniques for One- and Two-Step Word Problems and Real-Time Formative Instructional Tools for One Step Word Problems. Eight of Dr. Clayton’s undergraduate students volunteered at the conference as part of a service learning project.
