Professors of Physical Education and Mathematics Collaborate in Conference Session
James Clayton, Ed.D. ’71, associate professor of education; Michael Finetti, Ed.D., assistant professor of education and director of special education programs; Jay Garrels, Ph.D., chair of health & physical education; and Rebecca Conley, Ph.D., assistant professor of mathematics; recently presented a workshop at the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) Annual Convention in Atlantic City, N.J. The breakout session was titled, “Math and Physical Education: Perfect Together.” This multidisciplinary team of professors offered ideas for incorporating math concepts and skills into a cooperative physical education setting. Special Education accommodations and modifications were also addressed during this time. Attendees participated in group activities and shared their own experiences working with an interdisciplinary curriculum. The session was enthusiastically received by NJEA members.
