Two Faculty Members Travel to Nicaragua as Part of the Ignatian Colleagues Program

Maryellen Hamilton, Ph.D., professor and chair of psychology, and Mary Kate Naatus, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Business Administration and director of research for the Ignite Institute, traveled to Nicaragua last week for an immersion experience as part of the Ignatian Colleagues Program. They were in a group of 24 faculty and administrators from Jesuit colleges and universities around the United States. The group met with Rev. Jose Idiáquez, S.J., (pictured center above), Lea Montes, director of Jesuit services for migrants, as well as many university and community leaders, who shared their perspectives on the country’s history, culture, economy and social issues. The Ignatian Colleagues Program (ICP) is a national program of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) designed to educate and form administrators and faculty more deeply in the Jesuit & Catholic tradition of higher education, so that they may better articulate, adapt and advance the Jesuit and Catholic mission of their campuses.
