The Gateway Tuition Program is a promise that through use of institutional, state and federal resources we will help qualified Pell-eligible students meet their tuition cost obligations. For some students, the promise of zero tuition will include a Gateway Grant to help cover the tuition costs; for others tuition, comprehensive fees and orientation fee will be covered without the need of an additional grant.

Students who do not complete the financial aid application process or do not meet eligibility will have an award package created that matches their EFC and eligibility profile.

No additional application is required. To be considered, first-year students must apply for full-time undergraduate admission to Saint Peter’s University, using the Common Application and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

No. First-year applicants who apply through the University’s test-optional policy are fully eligible for the same consideration as applicants who submit standardized test scores.

The amount of your grant, and all supporting financial assistance, will be determined annually based on the results of your FAFSA and your family’s demonstrated need.

First-year students who complete a FAFSA will be automatically reviewed for all available institutional, state and federal scholarships and grants. Eligible Gateway Tuition Program students who require additional grant money to cover their tuition will be awarded the Gateway Tuition Grant.

All financial aid will appear in the student’s financial aid award letter.

The Gateway Tuition Grant is renewable for up to four years (8 semesters, fall and spring) providing the student remains Pell eligible, maintains full-time enrollment of at least 12 credits, and is in good academic standing.

To be eligible, first-year students must apply and be accepted to Saint Peter’s University as a first-year student for the Fall 2022 semester.  Also, you must be a legal New Jersey resident, living in-state for 12 consecutive months prior to enrollment, and you must be Federal Pell eligible and have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

All new freshmen entering the fall 2022 and new Transfer students for the fall 2022 are eligible for the Gateway Tuition Program. Currently enrolled students who meet similar EFC qualifications should consult with their financial aid counselor to carefully review their award package to see how currently awarded scholarships, and grants meet tuition, and comprehensive fee expenses.

Many of our currently enrolled Pell eligible students are receiving maximum institutional, state and federal grant awards.
