Paradigm Shifts in Teacher Preparation: Update to Proposed Legislative Changes
The Guarini Institute hosted a panel discussing the recent changes to teacher preparation and certification requirements proposed by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE). The event was moderated by Hon. Joseph V. Doria, Jr. ’68, dean of the School of Education, and included the following panelits: Peter Shulman, assistant commissioner/chief talent officer for the division of teacher and leader effectiveness, NJDOE; Assemblywoman Mila M. Jasey of the 27th legislative district; Francine Pfeffer, associate director of government relations, New Jersey Education Association; Jason Bing, chief academic officer, Jersey City Public Schools; Scott Taylor, Ed.D., superintendent, Kenilworth Public Schools; Lamont Repollet, Ed.D., superintendent, Asbury Park School District; and John Bennetti, assistant superintendent, Union City School District.
