May 20, 2002– Two Profs to Have Their Plays Performed this Summer

Jersey City, NJ – Two members of the Saint Peter’s College English department, Dr. Victoria Sullivan (New York, NY) and Katheryn White (Ocean Grove, NJ), will have their plays performed in New York and New Jersey, respectively, this summer.

Dr. Sullivan will have her “The Other Wife” performed on May 29-June 2 by the Hypothetical Theatre Company, a group of professional performers, at the 14th Street Y in New York City. The one-act play follows a man and wife to an elegant restaurant where the man is unpleasantly surprised by the presence of his ex-wife. During the uncomfortable meal, the audience hears from the characters and also learns what each is thinking. Tickets are available by calling 212-206-1515.

Dr. Sullivan has also been awarded top prize in the Edda Poetry Chapbook Competition for Women by the Sarasota Poetry Theatre. She will have her poetry published by the group.

White will have her “Sentimental Journey” performed on July 19-21, along with July 26-27, at the Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove, NJ. The play is set in 1990 when three women who once performed together in USO events during World War II reunite and reminisce. Tickets are available by calling 732-502-0050.

White has also been selected to judge the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s 15th annual “Music Under New York” auditions on May 22. The program allows many of New York’s most talented musicians the opportunity to perform in subway and rail stations around the city.
