The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities encrouraging its members to hold a Day of Peace on Thursday, February 13. At the request of Saint Peter’s College President JamesLoughran, S.J., the College’s Office of Campus Ministry and the Social Justice program will lead several events on campus that day. All are invited to participate: 1) 5:30-7:30 a.m. – Robert Kennedy, S.J., will conduct a sitting meditation in Morning Star Zendo at 50 Glenwood Avenue, 3rd Floor 2) Noon-12:15 p.m. – Multicultural prayers, poems and songs in the quad. A moment of silence begins the gathering followed with a procession to the Roy Irving Theater. 3) 12:15-12:55 p.m. – Father Ray Schroth, SJ, will lead a discussion on war and peace in the Roy Irving Theater. 4) 4:00-6:00 p.m. – Student gathering in Roy Irving Theater to discuss peace, with a focus on the College and Jersey City community. Pax Christi Social Justice community will provide free pizza and soda. 5) 11:45 p.m.-Midnight – Candlelight vigil outside Whelan and Millennium Halls 6) All day in McIntryre Loung several video presentations, including Hidden Wars of Desert Storm, Teach-In for Peaceand Colleen Kelly of Families for Peaceful Tomorrowswill be shown.
