Saint Peter’s College Student Wins Distinguished Teacher Candidate Award

April 5, 2003– Jersey City, NJ– Saint Peter’s College senior Tiffany Jacobson (Weehawken, NJ) has been selected by the State of New Jersey’s Department of Education as one of 16 Commissioner’s Distinguished Teacher Candidate Awards. The award will be presented on Wednesday, May 14 at River View Plaza in Trenton. The Commissioner’s Distinguished Teacher Candidate Awards annually recognize the year’s top graduates of teacher preparation programs at the state’s colleges and universities. Jacobson student-taught last semester at Edison School in Union City, NJ. She is a member of the Saint Peter’s Student Education Association and Kappa Delta Pi, education’s National Honor Society. The Elementary Education and American Studies major will graduate on May 18 with magna cum laude honors. “Tiffany has been a great student during her four years at Saint Peter’s,” Saint Peter’s Education Professor Dr. Harry Harty said. “She’s bright and works hard.. She is truly deserving of this honor and her future students will be lucky to have her.”
