Jersey City, NJ (January 4, 2005) – Saint Peter’s College received a pledge of $80,000 for over a four-year period from CIT Group Inc., a Livingston , NJ-based commercial and consumer finance company, to be used toward annual scholarships for eligible students. The gift represents CIT’s first direct grant to the College through the company’s Corporate Giving Program. The CIT Scholars for the 2004-2005 academic year are Nicholas Carr ’06, a Business Management major from Stillwater , NJ and Danielle Milosky ’06, an Accounting major from Keyport , NJ . CIT Scholars must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average, major in Business and demonstrate financial need.
CIT will award two scholarships per academic year to qualified students. “CIT’s support will have a major impact on our students, many of whom rely on financial support to continue their studies,” said Dr. Eugene Cornacchia, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “These scholarships will enable the recipients to attain their degrees, the first step in their career goals.”
Saint Peter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City. The College has a branch campus for adults in Englewood Cliffs and also offers courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront, in Newark and in South Amboy.
