Scott Bittle to Discuss Immigration Debate on February 21

Jersey City – Scott Bittle, vice president and executive editor of Public Agenda, an information service for journalists, will discuss various aspects of the ongoing immigration debate, including proposed legislation, on February 21 at 11 a.m. at Saint Peter’s College.  The lecture, the first in the spring 2007 semester in the Guarini Center for Governmental Affairs Lecture Series, will take place in the McIntyre Room in Dinneen Hall.

Bittle manages editorial operations of Public Agenda Online.  The site was nominated for a Webby Award by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and named one of the “50 Coolest Websites” of 2005 by Time.com.  The former reporter and editor of The Press of Atlantic City is writing a book with a Public Agenda colleague on the debate over the national debt scheduled for publication next year. Bittle holds a Bachelor of Arts in communication and journalism from Rowan University of New Jersey.
 
Established in 1994 by former New Jersey Congressman Frank Guarini, the Guarini Center aims to provide a non-partisan forum for discussion and analysis of key public policy issues and to encourage careers in public service among today’s students.
 
Saint Peter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City.
