Jersey City – The first performance of the spring semester in the Greek Theatre series will take place on Monday, March 26 at Saint Peter’s College. The outdoor performance will take place in the quad (rain site is the McIntyre Room in Dinneen Hall). It is collaboration among the Social Justice, Classics and Honors Programs at the College.

Students, faculty and staff will perform excerpts from several classical work works, including Virgil’s The Aeneid, Homer’s The Iliad, Antigone by Sophocles Peace by Aristophanes and Hecuba by Euripedes. The Greek Theater project has featured eight works since 2005 of both classical Greek tragedy and comedy.
Student participants in the spring production include Tom MacNamara ‘08, Maria Marrero ‘09, Michael Brown ‘07, Joseph Fragoso ‘07, Elizabeth Reavey ‘07, Anthony Latini ‘08, Pamela Ramos ‘07, Maimoona Zia ‘07 and Edward Majian ‘08. Faculty and staff include Dr. Anna Brown, Fr. James Kuntz, S.J., Doug Demeo, Fr. Robert Kennedy, S.J. Actress Miriam Healey will also perform in the spring production.
Casey Groves, an adjunct professor in the Social Justice Program at Saint Peter’s, is the director. He is an actor, teacher and playwright. Groves is currently appearing in the off-Broadway production of The Great Divorce.
Saint Peter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City. The College has a branch campus for adults in Englewood Cliffs, NJ and also offers courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront and in South Amboy, NJ.
