Peahens Clinch First MAAC Tournament Berth Since 2003

Jersey City The Saint Peter’s College Peahens (20-20, 10-4 MAAC) clinched their first MAAC Tournament bid since the 2003 season this afternoon after sweeping a doubleheader from the Rider University Broncs (7-32, 2-10). The Peahens won game one 3-1 and clinched the playoff berth with a 10-4 win in game two. The two wins coupled with two Marist losses clinch the postseason appearance. The Peahens still have a chance to win the regular season championship with a pair of wins over Iona next Saturday along with a Canisius split against Siena. The 2007 MAAC Championships will take place on May 10-12th at DeLuca Field in Stratford, CT.

Saint Peters College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peters has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City. The College has a branch campus for adults in Englewood Cliffs, NJ and also offers courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront and in South Amboy, NJ.
