Saint Peter’s College Students Selected to Participate in the First Your Heritage: Hispanic College Quiz Game Show – April 5, 2008

Jersey City – The Hispanic Association for Colleges and Universities (HACU) has announced that Saint Peter’s College will participate in the first Your Heritage: Hispanic College Quiz, a game show series produced by Central City Productions (CCP).

 

Participants will be challenged to answer a series of multiple-choice questions about Latino history. Representing Saint Peter’s College will be four student team members, one alternate student team member and one coach.  Together, they will travel to Chicago to film the four half-hour segments of the series on April 5, 2008.

 

The participants competing on behalf of the Saint Peter’s community include: Noel Borges, Daniela Villacres, Stephanie Galvis, Alex Rivero, and Daisy Vargas. Coaching the students will be Dr. Alex Trillo, the Director of Latin American and Latino Studies at Saint Peter’s College.  Hosted by NBC news anchor Zoraida Sambolin, the television series will air across the country during Hispanic Heritage Month, taking place September 15 through October 15, 2008.

 

The intent of the game show series is to promote positive images of Latino students, foster greater knowledge of Hispanic culture, and inspire people of all ages to have an appreciation for the Latino contributions to lifestyle in the United States, as well as in other nations.

 

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) was established in 1986 with a founding membership of eighteen institutions. Today, HACU represents approximately 450 colleges and universities committed to Hispanic higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

 

Saint Peter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City. The College has a branch campus for adults in Englewood Cliffs, NJ and also offers courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront and in South Amboy, NJ.
