Payne Appointed Vice President of Finance and Business

Jersey City – Kenneth Lewis Payne has been appointed Vice President of Finance and Business for Saint Peter’s College, effective August 11, 2008.  Payne brings to Saint Peter’s extensive financial and leadership experience in the academic and non-profit fields, including the management of resources totaling up to $1 billion.

Previously, Payne served as the Chief Investment Officer for CARE International, Inc., the world’s largest private relief and economic development organization headquartered in Atlanta, GA.  In addition to managing the agency’s $1 billion in invested funds, Payne managed all of CARE’s domestic and international banking relationships, directed its Global Risk Management program and assisted with donor cultivation.

Prior to CARE, Payne served as the Associate Vice President of Business and Finance at Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he designed, implemented and managed a decentralized budget system and prepared an operating budget of $69 million.  At Illinois State University, Payne was responsible for implementing University, State and Federal financial and personnel policies while preparing the $232 million University wide budget.

Payne received his M.P.A. from Governors State University of Illinois in the College of Commerce and Public Administration, and his B.A. in Finance and Economics from Ohio State University.

Saint Peter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City with a branch campus in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, with courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront and in South Amboy, NJ.
