Saint Peter’s College Pledges Support For A Million Minutes for Peace

Jersey City, N.J. – On Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at noon, members of the Saint Peter’s College community paused wherever they were, whatever they were doing, to pray for peace for one minute.

The College partnered with Odyssey Networks on its A Million Minutes for Peace® campaign, working to help secure one million pledges to pray for peace in observance of the United Nations International Day of Peace.

The College urged all professors to cease teaching at noon to give students the opportunity to participate in this worldwide event.

Odyssey Networks, a service of the National Interfaith Cable Coalition, Inc., is the nation’s largest multi-faith coalition dedicated to promoting tolerance, peace and social justice through the production and distribution of media. Odyssey’s membership includes more than 60 faith groups and organizations.

Students, faculty and staff were given the opportunity to help promote the event by joining the cause on Facebook and inviting friends to do the same, as well as posting a status update about the decision to partner with Odyssey Networks on this initiative. In addition, participants were encouraged to follow Odyssey Networks on Twitter by visiting https://twitter.com/OdysseyNetworks, Tweet that they signed the pledge and encourage others to do so.
