Saint Peter’s Among Top 100 in U.S. News & World Report Rankings

Jersey City, N.J. – September 10, 2014 – Saint Peter’s University is proud to announce that U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges 2015 guide ranked the institution among the top one hundred universities in the Regional Universities North region. In the category of Average Amount of Need-Based Aid Awarded, the University was ranked first in the state of New Jersey and 15th in its region. Saint Peter’s is also ranked third among N.J. private institutions in the category of Least Debt.

“The top 100 rank truly reflects the ongoing dedication of our faculty, staff, administrators and alumni who are committed to making Saint Peter’s the outstanding institution that it is,” said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Saint Peter’s University. “Additionally, with the ongoing debate about the value of higher education, we are extremely proud to be a leader in affordability as evidenced in the categories of Need-Based Aid Awarded and Least Debt.”

“This recognition is a testament to why Saint Peter’s is among the best private college values in the Northeast,” added Jeffrey Handler, vice president of enrollment and marketing at Saint Peter’s University.

Freshman retention, graduation rates and the strength of faculty are examples of some of the indicators considered by U.S. News & World Report in their rankings. The Saint Peter’s University profile from U.S. News & World Report specifically highlighted the Jesuit Catholic heritage of Saint Peter’s, the faculty to student ratio, the ideally sized and diverse student body, the convenient location in Jersey City, the close proximity to New York City and the Division I athletic program.

The category of Average Amount of Need-Based Aid Awarded is based on the largest need-based financial aid packages given, on average, during the 2013-2014 school year and the ranking in the Least Debt category means that Saint Peter’s graduates have the lowest debt at the time of their graduation. The data used to determine this ranking include loans taken out by students from the colleges and financial institutions, as well as from federal, state and local governments.
