Saint Peter’s Signs Dual Admissions Program Agreement with Hudson County Community College

Jersey City, N.J. – March 27, 2015 – Saint Peter’s University signed an agreement today with Hudson County Community College (HCCC) to establish a dual admissions program. The new program will provide a seamless transition for HCCC graduates to qualifying programs at Saint Peter’s. Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Saint Peter’s University, and Glen Gabert, Ph.D., president of Hudson County Community College, participated in the official signing of the agreement in the president’s office at Hudson County Community College.

Under the terms of the agreement, any Hudson County Community College student enrolled in a qualifying program may apply for entry into the dual admissions program at any time prior to the beginning of the semester in which the student will be graduating with an associate’s degree. Students in the dual admissions program will be held to the same academic standards as any Saint Peter’s University student upon enrollment and must meet the standard admission requirements.

Students in the dual admissions program will be seamlessly admitted as juniors at Saint Peter’s upon graduation. Students will be assigned advisors from both HCCC and Saint Peter’s. HCCC will provide Saint Peter’s with copies of students’ transcripts at no cost to Saint Peter’s and the Saint Peter’s advisor will maintain an office on the HCCC campus. Qualifying programs include business administration, criminal justice, elementary education, environmental studies and accountancy.

“The path to completing an advanced degree continues to evolve and Saint Peter’s takes pride in the University’s unique partnerships with Hudson County Community College, which enable us to stay one step ahead of the trends,” said Dr. Cornacchia. “Agreements such as the dual admissions program promote and stimulate the interest in advanced education, which will prove to be a great asset in the future to Hudson County and beyond.”

“Hudson County Community College has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with Saint Peter’s University that has benefitted our students and our community,” said Dr. Gabert. “This dual admissions agreement will make it easier for area students to attain their bachelor’s degrees in a number of fields.”

The dual admissions program agreement dovetails with the recent announcement that the Hudson County Community College Foundation will provide scholarships for students who are graduating from HCCC and transferring to Saint Peter’s University. The award will be for two $10,000 scholarships per year.
