Jersey City, N.J. – July 15, 2015 – Saint Peter’s University is proud to announce that it has been named to MONEY® Magazine’s list of best colleges in the United States for 2015-2016. Saint Peter’s was ranked fifth nationwide in the category of “Colleges That Add the Most Value.” According to the magazine, the top value-added colleges are those “that best help students exceed expectations.” The University was also ranked in the top 18 percent of all American colleges for educational quality, affordability and alumni outcomes.
“Our consistent recognition in national college rankings in the value category truly demonstrates Saint Peter’s commitment to providing the best return on investment for our students,” said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Saint Peter’s University. “We are very proud to be acknowledged by MONEY Magazine as this rank further exemplifies the University’s commitment to our students, which begins the moment they step foot on campus through graduation and beyond, as our alumni go on to pursue successful careers.”
The “Colleges That Add the Most Value” rank was based on value-added grades for graduation rates, earnings and student loan repayments. According to the magazine’s website, “It’s not surprising that elite schools report high graduation rates, or that their alumni move on to high-paying jobs. Their high-achieving (and often well-to-do) students arrive with the talent and resources to thrive. What’s impressive is when a college can help students do far better than you’d expect based on their academic and economic backgrounds and the mix of majors at their schools.” Saint Peter’s was ranked fifth in the nation in this category.
The overall rankings were designed to determine which of the approximately 1,500 four-year institutions across the country offer the best value considering factors such as graduation rates, instructor quality, net degree price, student debt, graduate earnings, career service support and market value of alumni skills, among others. MONEY Magazine initially cut a number of schools based on poor graduation rates and those struggling with financial challenges. The magazine ultimately ranked 736 institutions based on 21 factors in three categories. Saint Peter’s was ranked 134 in the country out of the 736 institutions. This positions the University in the top 18 percent nationwide, sixth in New Jersey and third among private institutions in the state.
