Belinda “Boe” Pearman Named Director of Athletics

Jersey City, N.J. – September 3, 2015 – Saint Peter’s University today announced that Belinda “Boe” Pearman has been appointed to the position of director of athletics for the University’s Division I athletics program. Pearman has more than 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics as a student-athlete, head women’s basketball coach and administrator, in addition to experience in professional sports and the private sector. She most recently served as the senior associate director of athletics and the senior woman administrator at Manhattan College.

“Saint Peter’s has a long athletic history and our search for a new director was focused on identifying an individual who embodies our mission and who is qualified to lead the University’s athletic program to new heights,” said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Saint Peter’s University. “We found those attributes and more in Boe Pearman. Her experience as an administrator, coach and student-athlete gives her a unique and vital perspective. We look forward to the future success of the program under her leadership.”

At Manhattan College, Pearman had direct oversight of 16 Division I athletic programs as well as the department units of sports medicine, student-athlete academic support and NCAA compliance. Prior to her role at Manhattan, she was named interim director of athletics at Southern Connecticut State University after serving as the institution’s associate director of athletics and senior woman administrator for nearly a decade. During this time, Pearman was responsible for the department’s NCAA compliance and conference rules and regulations, which encompassed more than 500 student-athletes and 40 coaches. She also served as the sports supervisor for five sport programs and had direct oversight of the Athletic Academic Support Program.

“I am very excited about the opportunity both to join and to serve as an ambassador for the Saint Peter’s community as its next director of athletics,” said Pearman. “Serving compassionately and leading ethically, both key ideals of the University’s mission, have long been two hallmarks of my professional career – as a coach, an educator and an administrator. I am fully committed to leading our team of coaches and staff ahead with the primary focus of providing an exemplary experience for our student-athletes, one that effectively prepares them for robust professional careers after graduation.”

In addition, Pearman was the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Rhode Island from 1999-2004 where she guided the Rams to the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship game for only the second time in the history of the program. Prior to that, she served as the associate head coach for the New England Blizzard (ABL) and as an assistant coach at the University of Maryland.

Pearman earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, where she was a four-year starter and second team All-ACC player for the women’s basketball team.

Pearman’s appointment makes her the second female athletic director in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and one of only three female athletic directors at the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities across the country.
