Jersey City, N.J. – May 17, 2018 – Saint Peter’s University today announced that on Thursday, May 17 the University will sign a dual enrollment agreement with Hudson Catholic High School (HCHS). Qualified HCHS students will be offered the opportunity to take college courses beginning their sophomore year to ultimately graduate with both a high school diploma from HCHS and an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree from Saint Peter’s University. Students will be able to pursue concentrations in business, criminal justice, education, the liberal arts or humanities and STEM fields.
“As our neighbors and community partners, the University has a strong relationship with HCHS and we believe this agreement will further strengthen that bond,” said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Saint Peter’s University. “We already enroll high numbers of HCHS graduates and we are consistently impressed by the caliber of these students. We are confident that eligible HCHS students will succeed and excel in the dual enrollment program.”
Students in the dual enrollment program will have the benefit of an early college experience as they will have access to all of the facilities and resources available to a traditional Saint Peter’s student. The students will attend HCHS while taking Saint Peter’s courses at a reduced tuition rate. The classes will be held both on the Saint Peter’s University campus and at HCHS. The courses will be taught by Saint Peter’s faculty and by qualified, certified HCHS teachers. The program will begin in September 2018.
“The dual enrollment program will provide our students with a unique opportunity to pursue a rigorous program of studies at a great university while continuing to grow as a high school student,” added Richard Garibell, president/principal of Hudson Catholic Regional High School. “Saint Peter’s University has historically been an outstanding partner for our school by providing our graduates an opportunity to continue their education in the Catholic tradition emphasizing service and academics.”
The signing event will be held in the TV/Media Production room of HCHS and will begin at 9:00 a.m.
