Jersey City, N.J. – March 18, 2019 – Saint Peter’s University today announced a Master of Science in Finance, which will be offered beginning in the fall of 2019. In conjunction, the University will also offer an accelerated program, which will enable undergraduates to obtain their master’s in finance in five years. The accelerated program is the only one of its kind in the tri-state area. The 30-credit program can be completed in nine months by full-time and accelerated students and 21 months by part-time students.
“Saint Peter’s University is located within minutes of major international financial centers including Jersey City’s Wall Street West and New York City’s Wall Street and Midtown districts,” said Devin T. Rafferty, Ph.D., director of the master’s program in finance and assistant professor of economics and finance at Saint Peter’s University. “Our location not only provides current students with unique opportunities in the finance industry, but also offers finance professionals a convenient setting to expand their skill set.”
The innovative curriculum of the Master of Science in Finance goes beyond the topics traditionally covered in other programs as it emphasizes a balance between macroeconomic and microeconomic aspects of finance; focuses on comparative central banking; stresses the history of financial economic thought; and addresses issues of financial ethics. The curriculum will be taught by top scholars who provide personalized attention.
Graduates of the program will have the expertise necessary to succeed in today’s globalized financial world as they will possess in-demand skill sets desired by industry employers. The program will also better prepare students for the leading financial professional certification exams such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam and the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam, among others.
