Jersey City, N.J. – October 5, 2023 – Saint Peter’s is proud to announce that Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of the University, was named to the 2023 NJBIZ Education Power 50 list in his final year as University president. The NJBIZ Education Power 50 list profiles leaders at education institutions who have “demonstrated their commitment to the critical task of ensuring that New Jerseyans are prepared for the future.”
“I am honored to once again be recognized on the NJBIZ Education Power 50 list,” said Dr. Cornacchia. “I applaud this annual publication for recognizing the impact of education in New Jersey’s business community and my fellow higher education counterparts for our collective efforts in building the pipeline for the state’s talent pool.”
Dr. Cornacchia is the University’s first lay president and the longest-serving president in Saint Peter’s history. During his tenure as president since 2007, the University has expanded its highly regarded undergraduate and graduate programs, initiated the institution’s first doctoral programs and established the Frank J. Guarini School of Business, a School of Nursing and the Caulfield School of Education.
Under Dr. Cornacchia’s leadership, the institution achieved University status and the campus underwent a physical transformation. In addition, Dr. Cornacchia has set fundraising records, securing $64.7 million for Students at the Center: The Campaign for Saint Peter’s University, which concluded in 2014 and launching the public phase of the University’s latest campaign, Peacocks Rise: The Campaign for Saint Peter’s University, in December 2022 with $70 million secured during its quiet phase alone.
