Saint Peter’s University Announces Master of Arts in Criminal Justice

Jersey City, N.J. – February 6, 2025 – Saint Peter’s University is proud to announce the launch of the Master of Arts in Criminal Justice (MACJ), which is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge, skills and leadership capabilities to excel in the dynamic field of criminal justice. This comprehensive graduate program provides a robust interdisciplinary education, offering specialized pathways that cater to the evolving demands of law enforcement, cybersecurity and global justice systems.

“Saint Peter’s University has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence and commitment to social justice,” said Jeffrey Dueck, Ph.D., acting dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Saint Peter’s University. “The MACJ program reflects our mission to educate ethical leaders who will drive meaningful change in criminal justice and related fields.”

The 36-credit MACJ program integrates a balanced approach of theoretical foundations, practical applications and advanced research opportunities. Students can specialize in one of three tracks: Criminal Justice Administration, Global Criminal Justice or Cybercrime Investigation and Cybersecurity.

Graduates of the MACJ program will benefit from a curriculum that covers key areas such as criminological theory, policy analysis, ethical practices, and management. Practical experience is emphasized through courses like Criminal Justice in the Field, which expose students to real-world scenarios, and through hands-on research projects that bridge academic knowledge with practical applications. The program also places a strong emphasis on leadership training, equipping students with the tools to take on influential roles in criminal justice organizations.

Networking and mentorship are integral components of the MACJ experience. Students will have opportunities to connect with experienced faculty, alumni and industry professionals who provide valuable career support and insights. The program’s flexible learning options make it accessible to both full-time students and working professionals.

The program culminates in a capstone project or comprehensive exam, where students apply their learning to address real-world criminal justice issues. For those interested in research, the thesis option offers the chance to conduct original studies, contributing meaningful insights to the field.
