Christopher J. Christie to speak at Saint Peter’s College On November 2 at 11 a.m. in Guarini Center Lecture Series

Jersey City, NJ – Christopher J. Christie, United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, will speak at Saint Peter’s College as part of the Guarini Center Lecture Series on Wednesday, November 2 at 11 a.m. in Roy Irving Theatre. “Mr. Christie has played a leading role in prosecuting corruption cases throughout the State, said Dr. Ken Mitchell, political science professor at Saint Peter’s and executive director of the Guarini Center. “Our students, many of whom major in criminal justice, look forward to his insights into the nature and challenges of public service.” As the top federal law enforcement officer in New Jersey, Christie supervises a 136-lawyer operation with offices in Newark, Trenton, and Camden. His office investigates, enforces and prosecutes the federal civil and criminal laws in the District. President George W. Bush appointed Christie to his current position on December 7, 2001.

After confirmation in the U.S. Senate, Christie was sworn into office on January 17, 2002. Christie earned his BA degree from the University of Delaware in 1984 and his JD from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1987. He was admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey and the Bar of the United States District Court, District of New Jersey in 1987. He began his legal career in 1987 when he joined the law firm of Dughi, Hewit & Palatucci in Cranford, New Jersey. In 1993, he was named a Partner in the firm.

Established in 1994 by former New Jersey Congressman Frank Guarini, the Guarini Center aims to provide a non-partisan forum for discussion and analysis of key public policy issues and to encourage careers in public service among today’s students. Members of the general public are invited to attend Mr. Christie’s talk. The lecture begins at 11 a.m. and includes a question and answer session.

Saint Peter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City. The College has a branch campus for adults in Englewood Cliffs, NJ and also offers courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront and in South Amboy, NJ.
