Steven R. Malin with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to discuss “Personal Financial Literacy – How Money Decisions Today Impact Your Future” at Saint Peter’s College

Jersey City (October 3, 2005) — Steven R. Malin with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York will discuss “Personal Financial Literacy – How Money Decisions Today Impact Your Future” at Saint Peter’s College in the first address of the Guarini Center Lecture Series for the fall semester on Wednesday, October 12 at 11:00 A.M. in Pope Lecture Hall. The Guarini Center and the College’s Economic Department are co-hosting the event.

“Mr. Malin will provide information that is relevant to all audiences, from students looking to enter the workforce in a few years to individuals paying off credit cards and other types of loans, about the long-term impact of everyday financial decisions on an individual’s purchasing power,” said Alky Danikas, a lecturer in the Economic Department at Saint Peter’s College. Malin has served as the assistant vice president of public information for the Federal Reserve Bank since 1993. He is responsible for the bank’s economic and financial education programs for teachers, students and the general public. Malin leads several public-private coalitions that promote economic and financial education and is the chairman of the New York State SAVES campaign. He serves as an adjunct full professor of Economics at City University of New York and Barnard College .

Established in 1994 by former New Jersey Congressman Frank Guarini, the Guarini Center aims to provide a non-partisan forum for discussion and analysis of key public policy issues and to encourage careers in public service among today’s students. Members of the general public are invited to attend Mr. Malin’s talk. The lecture begins at 11 a.m. and includes a question and answer session.

Saint Peter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City . The College has a branch campus for adults in Englewood Cliffs, NJ and also offers courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront and in South Amboy, NJ.
