Jersey City, N.J. – June 10, 2024 – Saint Peter’s University is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeanette Wilmanski, Ph.D. ’00, as the executive director of the Institute for STEM Experiential Learning. Bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role, Dr. Wilmanski will lead the Institute in forging robust partnerships with STEM employers, organizations and agencies. These collaborations will offer students valuable internships, externships, fellowships, job shadowing, mentoring, research, volunteer and other experiential learning opportunities.

In this role, Dr. Wilmanski will work closely with faculty to integrate career-based learning into the STEM curriculum, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. She is spearheading the development of a digital badging/certificate program for STEM work-study, internship and research experiences, providing students with tangible credentials for their achievements.

Recognized for her leadership within the University community, Dr. Wilmanski has served as the director of the successful TREX grant and held positions of president and vice president of the Faculty Senate.

“Dr. Wilmanski’s extensive involvement in University governance and policy-making has significantly contributed to the academic community at Saint Peter’s,” said Frederick Bonato, Ph.D., executive vice president and provost. “Her appointment underscores the University’s commitment to enhancing educational and professional opportunities for its STEM students. We look forward to seeing all she will accomplish in this new position.”

The University recently celebrated the opening of the Institute for STEM Experiential Learning on May 16. The establishment of the Institute is part of the broader five-year project titled STEM-PODER (DOE P031C210076), funded by a $4.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education for Hispanic Serving Institutions. This initiative aims to expand support in the STEM Engagement Center, upgrade laboratories and classrooms, provide faculty development opportunities, and create clear pathways for STEM transfer students from community colleges.
