Nursing Department Offers Public Speaking and Physical Assessment Courses

NURSING DEPARTMENT OFFERS PUBLIC SPEAKING AND PHYSICAL ASSESSMENT COURSES Free Public Speaking Course Offered at College’s Englewood Cliffs Campus Dr. Mary Kamienski, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing at Saint Peter’s College, will lead a free workshop on “Delivering Effective Presentations” on Wednesday, October 29th, from5-7p.m. in the Main building of the College’s Englewood Cliffs campus. Dr. Kamienski has presented more than 100 seminars on using humor in leadership, preparing effective presentations and how to survive at a job. She is a nursing research consultant for several area hospitals and has made many presentations locally and across the country on nursing research and various clinical topics. Registered Nurses Invited To Attend Physical Assessment Course Registered Nurses are invited to participate in a four-part Physical Assessment Course run by the Department of Nursing at Saint Peter’s College. Classes will be held in the nursing lab in Allison House on the College’s Englewood Cliffs Campus on four Saturdays, from 9 AM to 4:30 PM – October 4th, October 18th, November 1st, and November 15th. The focus of this continuing education course is on the physical assessment of the normal adult client. Students will use interview skills to obtain health history. Techniques of inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation will be emphasized. How to document these findings will be discussed. Thirty hours of instruction include both didactic and laboratory sessions. The fee is $300.00 and the New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA) has approved the 31.2 contact hours.
