Saint Peter’s University First in New Jersey for Social Mobility in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Rankings in Regional Universities North Category

Jersey City, N.J. – September 24, 2024 – Saint Peter’s University has continued its impressive climb in the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings of colleges and universities, being recognized as the leader in New Jersey among institutions in the Regional Universities North category for social mobility, a shift characterized by the upward professional and career advancement of its graduates.

Beyond its recognition for social mobility, Saint Peter’s is now ranked 39th overall following an increase of six places since last year. The University is also ranked among the top ten on the “Best Value Schools” list and has increased to 15th on the “Best Colleges for Veterans” list.

“Saint Peter’s is honored to be recognized as a leader in social mobility, a distinction that reflects our commitment to empowering students from all backgrounds to grow, excel and achieve their full potential,” said Hubert Benitez, D.D.S., Ph.D., president of Saint Peter’s University. “Our graduates are not only transforming their own lives, but also changing and improving their families and communities where they live. This ranking underscores the transformative impact of a Saint Peter’s education.”

Saint Peter’s is not only New Jersey’s leader in social mobility, but is also ranked 4th overall in the Regional Universities North category. U.S. News & World Report defines social mobility by a college’s success in the upward socio-economic movement of students by enrolling and graduating students awarded federal grants.

In order to determine the best value rankings, U.S. News & World Report considers factors such as the institution’s academic quality and the net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. Colleges and universities that were ranked highest on this list had the best quality programs at the lowest cost.

U.S. News & World Report defines a regional university as one that provides a full-range of undergraduate programs and master’s programs, but few doctoral programs. The Regional University North category includes institutions of this nature in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington, D.C.
