Saint Peter’s College Group Will Visit Honduran Jesuit MissionThis Summer

May 27, 2003– Jersey City,NJ– Saint Peter’s College will send a group of 12 students, alumni, faculty and staff to the Jesuit Mission in Honduras to experience culture and help build homes for those still suffering from the destruction caused by 1998’s Hurricane Mitch. The trip is part of the College’s continued efforts to encourage its students and alumni to participate in community service projects and follow the Jesuit ideal of “being men and women for others.” The Saint Peter’s Global Outreach Team will depart forHonduras on May 20th and return on June 2. They will spend the two weeks as guests of the Honduras Jesuit Mission in the region of El Progresso. The Saint Peter’s group will help renovate an El Progresso community and arts center and also build new homes in Las Guaymas, a town decimated by the hurricane. The Saint Peter’s group has spent more than six months preparing for the trip, immersing themselves in Honduran culture, social responsibility study and fund-raising efforts. The College’s Community Service and Campus Ministry offices will sponsor the trip.
