Saint Peter’s College Promotes Petriello to Dean

SAINT PETER’S COLLEGE PROMOTES PETRIELLO TO DEAN OF
THE COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES AND SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

April 29, 2003— Jersey City, NJ– Dr. Richard Petriello (Bloomfield, NJ), who has servedSaint Peter’s College for 29 years, was promoted today to become Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and School of Business Administration effective on May 1. He has been the College’s Associate Academic Dean for the last year. 
 
“I have worked with Dick for many years and admire his professionalism and dedication to the College’s academic mission,” Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Eugene Cornacchia said. “He is committed to continuing our efforts to strengthen academic standards, improve student academic advising services and enhancing opportunities for faculty scholarship.”
 
Dr. Petriello spent 27 years teaching Biology at the College. He joined Saint Peter’s in 1974 as an Associate Professor and gained full Professor status in 1992. Long regarded as one of the College’s most influential faculty members, Dr. Petriello served as President of the Faculty Senate from 1996-98 following two years as Vice President. He joined the College’s administration in 1987 when he was namedDean of Enrollment Managementwith responsibilities in admissions, marketing, retention and scholarship. He remained in his teaching role until 2002.
 
Dr. Petriello graduated from Iona University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1964. He earned his Masters of Science degree from Seton Hall University in 1966 and his Ph.D. from Rutgers University in 1970.
 
Saint Peter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter’s has an enrollment of more than 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City and a branch campus, specializing in adult education, is located in Englewood Cliffs. Saint Peter’s also offers classes in downtown Jersey City near the waterfront financial district.
