Five Saint Peter’s College Students Inducted Into Mathematics Honor Society

FIVE SAINT PETER’S COLLEGE STUDENTS INDUCTED INTO MATHEMATICS HONOR SOCIETY

April 22, 2003— Jersey City, NJ– Five Saint Peter’s College students will be inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon, the national Mathematics Honor Society, on April 24 at 4 p.m. in the Degnan Room on the College’s Jersey City campus. It is the 35th annual induction ceremony.

Dr. Brian Hopkins, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics will also be inducted.

The event will include presentations by senior Vincent Berardi (Plainfield, NJ) on “Chaos.” Guest speaker Dr. B. Melvin Kiernan (Hoboken, NJ), a 1957 Saint Peter’s alum who is a Mathematics Professor at the College, willspeak on “The History of the Department of Mathematics at St. Peter’s College.”

Pi Mu Epsilon is a non-secret organization whose purpose is the promotion of scholarly activity in mathematics among students in academic institutions, and among the staffs of qualified non-academic institutions.
