Bridge Construction Begins
July 31, 2002— Work has begun on the Saint Peter’s Walkway, a pedestrian bridge that will span Kennedy Boulevard linking the East and West campus of Saint Peter’s College. Work on the Walkway will be completed during the fall semester.
The Walkway will allow students, faculty and staff easy access to both sides of campus without having to navigate traffic on Kennedy Boulevard, one of Hudson County’s most heavily traveled roadways with more than 22,000 vehicles passing by the College each day.
While the Walkway will be a welcome addition, its construction will cause some minor discomfort to the College community. Parking spots will be eliminated on Kennedy Boulevard and the Boulevard may be closed for vehicular traffic. Construction will also force students, faculty and staff to follow different pedestrian routes and some of the lawn in front of Saint Peter Hall will be closed for construction equipment.
