Saint Peter’s Receives NCAA Diversity in Athletics Award

Jersey City – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), in collaboration with the Laboratory for Diversity in Sport at Texas A&M University, presented Saint Peter’s College Department of Athletics with the 2007-2008 NCAA Diversity in Athletics Award in the category of African-American Graduation: Male Student-Athletes.

Presented on an annual basis, the Diversity in Athletics Awards recognize the NCAA Division I athletic departments that excel in the area of diversity. Saint Peter’s is one of only two Jesuit colleges highlighted by the NCAA in their eight categories of excellence in diversity, and one of 10 institutions of higher education to receive the 2008 award for African-American Graduation: Male Student Athletes.

Patrick Elliott, Director of Athletics for Saint Peter’s College, noted, “We are extremely proud of our student-athletes and are honored to receive the Diversity in Athletics Award from the NCAA.  We will continue to ensure that all of our student-athletes strive for academic excellence.”

The NCAA and the Laboratory for Diversity in Sport at Texas A&M University are dedicated to producing and disseminating research related to all forms of diversity within intercollegiate athletics.
