Best-Selling Author and NBC’s Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss to be Keynote Speaker for Regents Business Symposium

Jersey City – Best-selling author Michael Beschloss, who was recently appointed NBC News Presidential Historian, will serve as the keynote speaker for Saint Peter’s College 37th Annual Regents Business Symposium. Taking place on Friday, November 7, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City, the forum is designed to inform and discuss current events in business and politics. The topic, “Leadership and Accountability in Challenging Times,” will be addressed by three additional business leaders. Jerramiah T. Healy, Mayor of Jersey City, will also be in attendance and provide remarks.

Beschloss, who appears regularly on NBC News programs, including Meet the Press and Today, provides viewers with expert analysis of the executive branch, and historical perspective on today’s leadership.  His recent appointment as NBC News Presidential Historian was the first position of its kind created by any major network.

Trained in leadership at the Harvard Business School, Beschloss has the unique experience of having spoken about leadership with every American president from Richard Nixon to George W. Bush. Beschloss shows executives and business leaders what they can learn from these men to better manage, lead and inspire.

Beschloss is the best-selling author of The Conquerors: Roosevelt, Truman and the Destruction of Hitler’s Germany, 1941-1945; Taking Charge: The Johnson White House Tapes, 1963-1964; and Reaching for Glory.

Additional distinguished speakers participating in the Regents Business Symposium include:

Anthony P. Terracciano, Chairman, Sallie Mae. He previously served as the President of First Union Corporation; Chairman and CEO of First Fidelity Bancorporation; President of Mellon Bank Corp.; and Vice Chairman of Chase Manhattan Bank. Terracciano is also currently a Director of IKON Office Solutions, and a member of the Board of Trustees for Monmouth Medical Center.  Terracciano is an alumnus of Saint Peter’s Class of 1960.

Sheri S. McCoy, Worldwide Chairman, Surgical Care, Johnson and Johnson. In this role, McCoy is responsible for Johnson & Johnson’s surgical franchises, including Ethicon, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, and DePuy.  She also oversees J&J’s Medical Devices and Diagnostics organizations in the Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific regions. A scientist by training, McCoy holds four U.S. patents.

Anthony R. Coscia, Esq., Chairman, Board of Commissioners, Port Authority of NY/NJ. As Chairman, Mr. Coscia has broad oversight responsibility in connection with the agency’s various transportation businesses and $5.9 billion annual capital and operating budget. He spearheaded the agency’s adoption of a $29.5 billion ten-year capital plan. Mr. Coscia is a Partner of Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf, LLP, one of the New York region’s oldest law firms and has extensive experience in the area of corporate, financial and real estate transactions.

The oldest continuous symposium of its kind in New Jersey, the Regents Business Symposium attracts approximately 350 of the area’s top business and political leaders, and provides Saint Peter’s College students with the opportunity to network with the business community.
