Saint Peter’s College memorialized the life of Ardley Jamaal Fuqua ’14 with a Mass and Sharing of Memories amongst the campus community on Tuesday, May 15. He died suddenly on Saturday, May 12, in Jersey City.
"Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and classmates of this young man," said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Saint Peter’s College. "The loss of life is always tragic, but much more so when a life is taken at such a young age. Please continue to keep those affected by this sudden loss in your thoughts and prayers."
The wake for Fuqua will be held on Friday, May 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wallace Temple AME Zion Church, 392 Ave. C (at 17th Street) in Bayonne. The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 8:30 a.m., also at Wallace Temple AME Zion Church.
As sadness and grief can be eased through the support of others, the offices of Campus Ministry, located in Dinneen Hall, or Personal Development in Henneberry Hall are open to students, staff and faculty members for comfort during this difficult time.
Since final exams are nearly over and most students have already left campus, the College will hold a formal Memorial Mass for Fuqua in the fall when classes resume. This service will include members of his family and those students and faculty who have already departed for the summer.
