Career Fair Breaks Record for Employer Turnout

This fall, more than 475 students and alumni attended the 29th Annual Fall 2012 Career Fair, held at the Victor R. Yanitelli, S.J. Recreational Life Center. The Career Fair featured 53 employers representing corporate, government, health and non-profit sectors – the biggest turnout in the 29-year history of this event at Saint Peter’s. Companies and organizations such as 1010 WINS Radio, AFLAC, NJ Transit Rising Tide Capital were on-hand to greet attendees, discuss their business, accept resumes and more.

“The Career Fair is a valuable career forum for students to personally interact with and network with employers and interview for opportunities,” said Crescenzo G. Fonzo, MA, director of Career Services at Saint Peter’s University. “An important feature of our career fairs is that a number of participating employers are represented by our own Saint Peter’s alumni/ae, who serve as key resources for students in their career journeys.”

He added, “The Career Fair is also an opportunity for our own faculty members to interact with employers in their industry and establish strong relationships, which will benefit the University community – especially within the classroom and outside the classroom environment, as well.”

In addition to the record breaking employer turnout, 18 employers made their on-campus debut at the Career Fair – an unprecedented number for a single Career Fair and another milestone for this event at the University. These companies included Eisner Amper LLP, ING Financial Partners Inc., 9/11 Memorial, Morris School District, TD Bank and the Visiting Nurse Service of New York.

The Career Fair was held by the Office of Career Services, and the BASF Corporation was the corporate sponsor for this event. The Office of Career Services’ primary purpose is to provide students with the necessary resources and tools that will enable them to identify and work toward realizing and their individual career objective.
