Jersey City, N.J. – December 22, 2015 – Saint Peter’s University is proud to announce that it received a 2015 Unique Venues Best Of Award from Unique Venues Magazine. The annual awards are selected by readers and recognize non-traditional meeting and event venues that have made a difference for planners and the hospitality industry as a whole. Unique Venues awards 20 venues annually in a range of categories. Saint Peter’s was recognized for The Duncan Family Sky Room, which is located on the sixth floor of the Mac Mahon Student Center, which opened in 2013. The space was named the “Best Training and Development Venue.”
“During the planning and construction of the Mac Mahon Student Center the intention for The Duncan Family Sky Room was to create a space that brought the community together,” said Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Saint Peter’s University. “We take great pride in this honor as it reflects how the space has exceeded our expectations.”
The Duncan Family Sky Room features a two-story wall of windows overlooking the New York City skyline and panoramic views of Jersey City. The 8,000 square-foot space is LEED Silver certified and offers a state-of-the-art sound system with surround sound and video conferencing capabilities. Due to air walls, the room can be divided into three spaces and configured in a variety of ways. “The ability for customization in order to captivate a team is an immeasurable benefit for planners and here the space is their canvas,” said Lauren LaGreca, manager of conferencing and event services at Saint Peter’s University.
“The Best Of awards gives us the opportunity to applaud the independent venues that have gone above and beyond during the course of the year and also the chance to shine a spotlight on our niche market and show how it impacts the greater industry,” says Michele Nichols, founder of Unique Venues. “All of our winners are true trendsetters and leaders. They’re pushing the envelope, challenging peers in new innovative ways, and providing services and benefits that haven’t been done before.”
