An important annual event, the Scholarship Information Session Luncheon allows students to connect with the donors who have made their educational journey possible through their philanthropy. This year was the seventh annual occurrence of the event where students express gratitude to donors through hand-written notes.
A number of the seniors at the event have already begun to take graduate classes at Saint Peter’s. Jasmine Boone ’18, a sociology major who attended the event, is taking graduate courses in the master’s program in public administration while working on her bachelor’s degree. She hopes to become a policy analyst. Jonathan Rivera ’18, who is the recipient of The Hyjek Family Endowed Scholarship, is doing the same, but is working on his M.B.A. “My generous donor makes it possible for me to focus on my education without having to worry about debt,” he said.
As the first in her family to attend college, Rolanda Holder ’20, is incredibly grateful for The Alice & Francis X. Hagan Endowed Scholarship that helped make her education possible. “I am the first in my family to attend college, the first to receive a scholarship and the first to make the dean’s list,” said the public policy and urban studies major.
Alexandra Bernal ’20 is double majoring in psychology and sociology and she hopes to go on to law school when she graduates; she is one of the recipients of The William H. Hannon Foundation Annual Scholarship. “I am very grateful for the scholarship I received and I hope to pay it forward in the future,” said Bernal. “My goal is to become a lawyer to protect abused children in underserved communities.”
